JULY TOURNAMENT RESULTS:

Firecracker "Shamble" - June 25

Although it was called a "Shamble" it was anything but as 40 players competed for prizes in the annual Firecracker "Shamble". In a slight change from the normal scrambles, players selected the best drive of the group and then played their own ball out and counted the two best scores of the group. Johnny Blalock led his team of Carl Liguori, Judy Sharkey and Ron Sayre to victory in the gross division with a 135 total. In the net division, Dale Younger, Pete Markese, Terry Malam and Karon Blalock recorded a 114 to win by 4 strokes over the team of Erle Younker, Deb Dimeglio, Alan Strech and Jim Adams The team of Jaime Mantel, Rudy Lopez and George Flynn won the exciting horserace derby after play. Thanks to all who turned out to make this event a huge success.

Fourth of July Flag Tournament - July 4

The 4th of July Flag Tournament saw 30 players turn out on a breezy 4th of July. Players were given an American Flag and received their handicap plus the par of the golf course. Players who went the farthest without using up their allotted strokes were declared the winners. For the men, Bill Reagan and Tracy Oswell not only completed 18 holes, both went to the 1st green. Reagan took the top prize has he holed out on his 5th shot while Oswell was 6" short of the cup on his 5th shot.. For the ladies, Kay Streckfuss was declared the winner when she reached the 1st fairway while Judy Sharkey and Lydia Kurtik both reached the 18th green. Thanks to all who came out for this annual 4th of July celebration.

Sunday Couples - July 7

Playing a partner's better ball stableford, Mark & Lydia Kurtik recorded 48 points to take the top prize while Erle & Linda Younker scored 46 points for second. There were 6 couples that turned out for the July Sunday couples event. The August Sunday couples is set for August 18 and the format will be a partners best ball gross and net. Entry fee is $10 per couple and is an Open "T" after 9:00 a.m.

Par 3 Tournament - July 13

The Par 3 Classic is turning into one of the more popular summer events on the CCC schedule. There were 26 players that turned out for the event in which all 18 holes at Crystalaire were turned into Par 3's. Low gross for the men went to Brian Barcelona with a 59 while Tracy Oswell was 2nd with a 60. The net scores were even more impressive as Ron Thomas captured the top spot with a 56 and Jim Kitts was second with a 58. For the women, Deb Dimeglio won the top gross prize with a 68 while Barb Dettloff blitzed the 18 holes with an impressive 50.

Men's Member-Guest "The Coyote" - July 20-21

After 53 years in the books, the Men's Member-Guest "The Coyote" continues to be the premier event on the CCC calendar. This year's edition was no exception as 32 teams battled it out over 2 days vying for gross and net prizes. In the Mountain Flight, Johnny Blalock and Ryan Kahl (Antelope Valley) posted a two-day -5 total to win the gross title. It was no contest in the net division as the team of Lee Horne and Matthew Lyon (Antelope Valley) posted a -24 total to win by a whopping 9 shots. Second went to the team of Steve Floersheim and Sandy Freeman (Braemar) with a -15. The Desert Flight produced two clear-cut winners as the team of George Flynn and Noel Daof (Muroc) posted a +34 total for the gross victory. Jim Adams and Dan Robinson (Vista Valencia) were the clear cut net winners at -14 with the second place spot going to Terry Malam and Danny Martin (Rancho Vista) at -9. In the exciting Horserace after play on Day 1, Jim Juden, Dan Tinnin, Ray Martin and Dan Ernst outlasted the field for the victory. Jim Kitts and his Committee did an outstanding job in organizing this premier event on the CCC calendar. Thank all of you for making memories in this 53rd edition of the "Coyote".

Crystalaire has limited days for outside events. Most of our outside play comes from small business or departments looking for a golfing facility that is a challenging and a rewarding experience for customers and co-workers. Call our Professional for additional information.

Childrens Hospital

Crystalaire is the home of a few select fund raising tournaments such as the Antelope Valley Guild of Children's Hospital Tournament held each October,(Scramble or Individual). An outstanding tournament that the public is invited to play.
